Ta Thimkaeo
Ta was born in Thailand, raised in a rice field. At the age of 12 she decided to leave school to work in the rice fields but very soon she realized she wanted something more than what a life in the rice fields could offer her. Today she lives on the island of Koh Samui overlooking the Thai coast.
Life has given her an opportunity, and this opportunity was art. It all started in 2011 from a little scribble.
Ta loves to paint people, to capture movement, their emotions, drama and the theatrical character of life. She likes to paint people to express their personality, their light and the dark.
Her true passion is color, as the gathering of colors capable of stirring our emotions. Her goal is to bring the observer to reflect on what he sees.
Her art is influenced by artists and important figures such as Freud, Picasso and Botticelli, whose use of color she admires. Thanks to their influence, Ta has matured the use of color in a risky and spontaneous way, using a metal spatula to create thickness. She likes to work using the metal spatula and feel the passion and emotion in the moment of creation.
Today her works are part of international collections in Amsterdam, Bangkok, Barcelona, Berlin, California, Chicago, Copenhagen, Dubai, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Hong Kong, London, Munich, Monte Carlo, Malibu Beach, Monaco , New York, Nice, Paris, Rome, Sydney, Shanghai, Zurich, Taiwan and Tokyo. They are found in 47 countries, not bad for a girl from the rice fields!
